I adore the Criterion Collection and everything that they represent in the world of cinema, and this video was a kind of love letter that also touches on the odd but very real idea of how fandoms can be far more loyal to brands rather than to individual products. This video mixes a lot of the styles I’ve come to integrate into my videos - film clips, originally shot footage, and various styles of motion graphics, but the most fun I had was re-creating a select handful of Criterion’s intricate booklets to be woven alongside the video’s narrative. This one was just simply a joy to make.
