I spent so much time reading and thinking about visual effects in a practical light in the summer of 2022 when working on my Ray Harryhausen video - in particular the realities of producing visual effects sequences and the constraints that production methods / financial situations can create - that when a wave of stories covering labor complaints about the working conditions vfx artists face came out soon after, I felt that I had something to contribute to the conversation. Design-wise, this is the video that I’m the proudest of too. I scheduled a longer production period than normal and decided to really go all out with the motion graphics to create something more substantial than I’d ever done before.
